I’m Alison, and I’ve been a lecturer at UCLA for 8 years. For me, a June 30th lay-off would mean that I no longer get to share my 25+ years as an ecologist and conservationist with my students. I would no longer be able to teach 1000s of students about environmental issues and what we can all do as individuals and a society to ensure this planet remains livable. I would lose the opportunity to mentor so many students during this very important time in their life paths. And for me, a lay-off would literally mean that I can no longer afford a roof over my son’s head.
