My name is Kendra. This is my 15th year at Berkeley. For me, a June 30th lay-off means a break to the commitment to teaching and research.

For me personally a layoff would mean the end of healthcare for my family, greater financial worries, and a loss of a sense of value or meaning. As a librarian, I help researchers find and use information and data they need to find solutions for current and future problems. I support researchers and preserve their work, making it accessible and discoverable now and for future generations. This kind of “invisible” work is vitally important for any research organization, and a layoff would abandon that function and so much effort would eventually fall through the cracks of time.
