My name is Marianne. This is my seventh year teaching writing, American Cultures, and film at Berkeley. For me, a June 30th layoff would mean losing my health insurance after months of being unable to access preventative care because of the COVID crisis. It would mean struggling to pay rent. It would also mean losing the opportunity to keep working with dozens of students I currently teach who’ve already emailed to ask whether they can take the next stage of Berkeley’s foundational writing sequence with me.
