A June 30th layoff would mean forced early retirement and related, lasting financial hardship.

My name is Barbara Barnes. This is my 13th year teaching at UC Berkeley, where I’ve taught approximately 4500 students, 65 classes, and 25 distinct curricula. For me, a June 30th lay-off would mean: a disintegration of the networks through which I support students as a teacher and mentor; forced early retirement and related, lasting financial hardship; loss of health benefits in a vulnerable time.
