A June 30th layoff means my students lose me as a dedicated teacher, mentor, and advocate: For me, debilitating financial & professional precarity.

Lecturers play an essential role in the research, teaching, and mentoring labor-force of the UC system. I lay-off, for me, means losing pay, job security, and connection to my scholarly community and students. I have been on the job market for 3 years. I have conducted scholarship at Berkeley for over 8. I am a high-quality and strategic asset for this university–yet a June 30th lay-off means in-access to academic resources, severance of invaluable relationships with student mentees, and financial and career precarity for me. #WeTeachUC #FairContractNow #EndUnpaidWorkNow #NoLayOffsUC
