A June 30th lay-off would mean financial hardship and housing insecurity

My name in Daniel Schoorl. This is my 9th year working as a librarian at UCLA. A June 30th lay-off would mean financial hardship and added housing vulnerability. My wife and I live in a rent controlled apartment complex that was bought by a developer last year and we were expecting our eviction notices in March. With the uncertainty of the COVID crisis we’re not sure what to expect in terms of housing options. But I do urge the UC, the third largest employer in California, to commit and follow through on full employment for University of California workers. #NoLayoffs #SolidarityNotAusterity
